The Finale of Wirral Makefest was an incredible celebration of creativity, curiosity, and community spirit — and what a day it turned out to be.
In just six hours, we welcomed around 1,500 visitors through the doors, all eager to explore, learn, and be inspired. The energy in the space was constant from start to finish, with families, hobbyists, and first-time makers all coming together to experience something special.
At the heart of the event were our 25 talented makers, who brought an amazing variety of skills and passions to share. From cutting-edge technology to traditional crafts, there was truly something for everyone. Visitors could meet a robotic dog, step into immersive VR experiences, and see 3D printing in action. Alongside this, there was beautiful hands-on creativity — from intricate sewing and weaving to the meticulous craft of guitar making.
One of the standout pieces of the day was a truly enormous latch hook rug, stretching several metres wide. It became a real talking point, drawing people in to admire both its scale and the dedication behind it.
We were also delighted to host a pop-up café from Wirral Met Prep4Life students, which kept visitors fuelled and gave people a chance to pause, chat, and soak in the atmosphere.
Events like this don’t happen without a huge collective effort. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of our makers for sharing their time, skills, and enthusiasm so generously. Thank you to everyone who helped organise, set up, and support the day behind the scenes. And of course, thank you to every single visitor who came along and made the event feel so vibrant and alive.
Whilst The Finale is over and Wirral Makefest C.I.C starts to wind up as a company, we hope opportunities continue to grow where creativity thrives, collaborations multiple and community connections are strengthened. .
