Feature makers: The Yaffingale
In the first of our feature makers for Wirral MakeFest 2024, Ali Pickard -The Yaffingale uses craft techniques within fine art sculptures. Originally part of a Women’s Welding Collective, via years working with recycled design in South America, she is now based in North Wales and recently returned to making a new textile and mixed media collection. She often uses historical references to reflect on modern society and women’s stories. She is interested in which stories get to be told, and who is telling the tale

Yesterday, twelve Wirral MakeFest volunteers met in the Williamson Art Gallery’s craft room for a bit of making! Buttons, signs, t-shirts and rags were all part of Wirral MakeFest prep. Some of our donated materials included old banners from Foundation
