In the first of our feature makers for Wirral MakeFest 2024, Ali Pickard -The Yaffingale uses craft techniques within fine art sculptures. Originally part of a Women’s Welding Collective, via years working with recycled design in South America, she is now based in North Wales and recently returned to making a new textile and mixed media collection. She often uses historical references to reflect on modern society and women’s stories. She is interested in which stories get to be told, and who is telling the tale
Making with MakeFest. Wirral Libraries celebrating the Borough of Culture are creating a story patchwork. Wirral MakeFest will be leading a workshop on Wednesday the 8th of May from 3-5pm. Come along to Birkenhead Central Library to make patches and bunting with the Wirral MakeFest team. We will be reusing, recycling, repurposing and taking time to relate to each other. All materials provided – free open session.
This is the final list of our makers and our plan
