Wirral Makefest C.I.C is excited to announce a series of events leading up to its highly anticipated main event at Birkenhead Central Library on the 10th of May 2025. The festivities begin with a fundraising barn dance, followed by a free plastics workshop, and culminate in a vibrant celebration of creativity and local craftsmanship.  

Fundraising Barn Dance – Friday, April 11th, 2025 7:30 – 10:30 pm

Get your boots on and your dancing shoes ready for a fun-filled fundraising Barn Dance at The Wirral Barn on Friday, April 11th! This exciting evening will feature live music from THE FINAL NAILS, foot-stomping dances, and a chance to raise funds for the Wirral Makefest C.I.C, the organisation behind the annual celebration of creativity and craftsmanship in the region. Bring your friends, family, and a spirit of adventure, as all proceeds will directly support the festival’s efforts to showcase local makers and artists. Tickets are £8 for adults and accompanied children under 16 are free with an adult ticket.

Free Plastics Workshop – Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at BirkenHack 11 am – 3pm

Join us for a unique, hands-on workshop on Saturday, April 12th at a new maker space, BirkenHack near Hamilton Square, where Jackie Pease of DOES Liverpool will lead a free session on working with soft plastics in creative and sustainable ways. This workshop is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills, explore the potential of recyclingmaterials, and engage with the growing maker community. The session is open to all ages and skill levels, so whetheryou’re a seasoned crafter or a beginner, you’ll leave with new techniques to incorporate into your own creations.

Main Event – Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at Birkenhead Central Library 10 am – 4pm

The main event for Wirral Makefest will take place on Saturday, May 10th at Birkenhead Central Library, when over30 local makers will showcase their products, skills, and talents. From coding to robots, craft skills, new techniques, gadgets and more, the event promises to be a thrilling celebration of science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths. The event will also feature a pop-up café, offering delicious refreshments to fuel your creative journey.

Whether you’re looking to create a one-of-a-kind item, participate in workshops, or simply enjoy a vibrant, community-centered atmosphere, the Wirral Makefest has something for everyone.
