3D Primo will be located at Birkenhead Central Library. They will bring a selection of SolidMaps™ 3D map moulds of local locations for visitors to cast/mould in safe and eco-friendly materials.
A community wide project to create a 3D SolidMap™ of Wirral.
The map will be in the form of a jigsaw puzzle made up of the 2024 Parliamentary constituency wards, each of which will be 3D printed within its own ward. The finished map will be approximately 1 metre across.
We will prepare and provide the print-ready files at the correct scale. Print partners, which can include schools, local businesses and individuals will 3D print their ward SolidMap™ to an agreed specification.
As well as the 22 wards within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, partners from neighbouring wards within the peninsula are welcome.
Once all the pieces are printed, the assembled map will then form a ‘blank canvas’ for other Wirral creatives to show off their own particular ideas. This could include lighting and projection, painting the pieces, ‘casting’ in different materials such as Wirral sandstone, etc.
On the day itself, visitors will have the opportunity to put the jigsaw 3D map together.
