Things to know about me.. I love to make strange noises and make up words.

Oh, and I am what we call ‘disabled’. The other two things are far more interesting than my inability to do steps or hear what you are saying to me!

Wirral Makefest C.I.C have been looking closely at accessibility this year, both venues are pretty good overall with minor tweaks needed.

As the third director I have been accompanying Alison to meetings and other venues. It is fair to say that her eyes have been opened while trailing round with me and my walker called Wendy, not hearing lots of what is being said! Being inclusive is a big part of our ethos (even before I arrived), at both our venues with toilets, seating, automatic doors, ramps and handy volunteers to help! A quiet space is available for when all the magic and excitement get a bit much. An incidental positive is no background music at both venues , this makes it incredibly difficult for those of us with hearing impairments, not to mention it is often dreadful music…

I digress as usual, I am really pleased at the effort we put into auditing accessibility, creating robust policies, which will be available on our website, and welcoming feedback from 2023.

We are very proud of our attention to detail and welcome all members of our wonderful community to experience a truly STEAM makers event that positively encourages participation and inspiration.
