Wirral Makefest C.I.C is excited to announce a series of events leading up to its highly anticipated main event at Birkenhead Central Library on the 10th of May 2025. The festivities begin with a fundraising barn dance, followed by a free plastics workshop, and culminate in a vibrant celebration of creativity and local craftsmanship.
We are one today! Wirral MakeFest became a community interest company on this day last year. Directors Alison and John continued from Wirral MakeFest 2023. Originally started with Diana Powell and Wirral Unplugged CIC (now uk.unplugged CIC). Jules Kay joined the WMF team and then

We have made the decision to shift our timing for Wirral MakeFest for 2025 and looking towards holding our event on Saturday the 10th of May 2025 and in one location only – Birkenhead Central Library. Performances at Wirral MakeFest. We are delighted that we have a very full spoken word, poetry and music component to both sites. At the The Williamson Art Gallery on Slatey Road in the cafe on the 1st of June between 10am and 4pm, our host Alison Schultz with Celia Gentles (childrens’ interactive) will introduce the following performers
First step, get your ticket, then plan your route to get to us – hopefully by public transport or walking. If you have to come by car – there is a car park at the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum. All their travel information is on their website and for the library, there is a free car park on Turner Street, across Borough Road. The walk between the two venues takes 9 minutes via Balls Road (downhill from Williamson to the library).
The Mayor’s Bunting. Cllr Cherry Povall JP became the new Mayor for Wirral yesterday evening with Sheila Clarke MBE as Mayoress.
Things to know about me.. I love to make strange noises and make up words.Oh, and I am what we call ‘disabled’. The other two things are far more interesting than my inability to do steps or hear what you are saying to me! Wirral Makefest C.I.C have been looking closely at accessibility this year, both venues are pretty good overall with minor tweaks needed.
