We are unusual in that we are a two site event and we have made the decision to alternate between our venues in future years. Here are the locations of all our makers for Saturday either at Birkenhead Central Library on Borough Road or the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum on Slatey Road (9 minutes walk away).
First step, get your ticket, then plan your route to get to us – hopefully by public transport or walking. If you have to come by car – there is a car park at the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum. All their travel information is on their website and for the library, there is a free car park on Turner Street, across Borough Road. The walk between the two venues takes 9 minutes via Balls Road (downhill from Williamson to the library).
The Mayor’s Bunting. Cllr Cherry Povall JP became the new Mayor for Wirral yesterday evening with Sheila Clarke MBE as Mayoress.
In the first of our feature makers for Wirral MakeFest 2024, Ali Pickard -The Yaffingale uses craft techniques within fine art sculptures. Originally part of a Women’s Welding Collective, via years working with recycled design in South America, she is now based in North Wales and recently returned to making a new textile and mixed media collection. She often uses historical references to reflect on modern society and women’s stories. She is interested in which stories get to be told, and who is telling the tale
