On Tuesday, Alison Bailey Smith of ABScraft and Diana Powell of WirralUnplugged visited the University of Liverpool to recruit marketing volunteers for Wirral MakeFest.
Alongside marketing volunteers Alina Robinson and Julia Hugh, they pitched what Wirral MakeFest will be about, the benefits of working alongside such an amazing project and how they can help promote and support the event.
Together with enthusiasm and passion they successfully recruited a team that will be the face behind Wirral MakeFest’s content, social media, articles etc. Wirral MakeFest has given these students a wonderful opportunity to gain experience working with a non-profit, community led event. They are the start of the recruitment process and there will be plenty opportunities to join in and volunteer for this wonderful day.
Giving students the opportunity to gain experience is so important in todays world. With focus on sustainability and STEAM* it allows students to learn about a niche ‘on the edge’ community. Hopefully, with their participation they can lead the way to change within the corporate environment. Better understanding of sustainability and reusing, recycling, reducing and recovering can influence how businesses are managed in the future. And it all starts with events such as Wirral MakeFest
