After much trying, we could not secure a heritage bus as we had last year – it was such an attraction. We have arranged, through very gracious support from Wirral Mencap, a minibus between our two venues for the benefit of people with disabilities. The short walk between the library and the Williamson Art Gallery may be problematic for some people and cut down on their enjoyment of our event so we felt it was important to present an alternative. Their driver, Ben has lots of experience driving the bus and using the rear lift so people who have need of this service can feel confident that they are in safe hands.

Wirral Mencap support people in Wirral with a learning disability by:

  • championing equality and promoting independence
  • providing knowledge and building confidence
  • connecting people to their community
  • collaborating, informing and sharing best practice

Driven by a small team of staff and amazing volunteers, they work closely with members and their families to offer opportunities and advance equality, ensuring learning disabilities are no barrier to a full and successful life.
