David Jones and the Wirral Open Studio Tour have joined us to promote the 58 studios that will be opening across Wirral in mid June. We are delighted that David will be joining us in this dual role as maker in his own right but also as one of the organisers of the event. He will be making during our event preparing for next month where he will be showing from Oxton.
He works with recycled materials, taking inspiration from maritime, industrial decay, to produce extensive 3D work for exhibition. These take inspiration from built-environment, decay and the persistence of nature.
David’s inspirations are rooted in Wirral and North Wales. His paint, sketch and 3-dimensional works look toward metropolis, landscape, nature and decay.Working in ink pen with watercolour for more spontaneous pieces; with these mediums he works rapidly (more so depending on the weather) in the field using sketch journals. These are anything from urban riverscapes, to rural areas. Further work combines these pieces into pictorial maps, cartoons and other works in acrylic and watercolour.
