Wirral MAYkeFest 2025
We have made the decision to shift our timing for Wirral MakeFest for 2025 and looking towards holding our event on Saturday the 10th of May 2025 and in one location only – Birkenhead Central Library. We are also proposing this will be a non-selling event. Our reasons behind these changes are very practical.
The new joint director, Tony Terry
Introducing our new joint director Tony Terry, who really needs no introduction as he has been with us throughout our journey and we are thrilled he is joining Jules, John and myself to help direct our future events.

THE LOCATION OF OUR MAKERS
We are unusual in that we are a two site event and we have made the decision to alternate between our venues in future years. Here are the locations of all our makers for Saturday either at Birkenhead Central Library on Borough Road or the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum on Slatey Road (9 minutes walk away).
Minibus between venues for benefit of people with disabilities
After much trying, we could not secure a heritage bus as we had last year – it was such an attraction. We have arranged, through very gracious support from Wirral Mencap, a minibus between our two venues for benefit of people with disabilities. The short walk between the library and the Williamson Art Gallery may be problematic for some people and cut down on their enjoyment of our event. Their driver, Ben has lots of experience driving the bus and using the rear lift so people who have need of this service can feel confident that they are in safe hands.
Performances at Wirral MakeFest
Performances at Wirral MakeFest. We are delighted that we have a very full spoken word, poetry and music component to both sites. At the The Williamson Art Gallery on Slatey Road in the cafe on the 1st of June between 10am and 4pm, our host Alison Schultz with Celia Gentles (childrens’ interactive) will introduce the following performers
Planning your visit for the 1st of June
First step, get your ticket, then plan your route to get to us – hopefully by public transport or walking. If you have to come by car – there is a car park at the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum. All their travel information is on their website and for the library, there is a free car park on Turner Street, across Borough Road. The walk between the two venues takes 9 minutes via Balls Road (downhill from Williamson to the library).
The Mayor’s Bunting
The Mayor’s Bunting. Cllr Cherry Povall JP became the new Mayor for Wirral yesterday evening with Sheila Clarke MBE as Mayoress.
