Furryocious is a needlefelter. It’s a relatively new craft which involves making 3D models and 2D pictures from coloured wool, silk, alpaca, and a variety of other fibres. The fibres are felted together very simply using a barbed needle.
Lisa of Furryocious will bring a selection of felts and the fibres that go into her creations for visitors to see, some small projects for people to try, and she will be working on a large dragon puppet to demonstrate how to felt.
“I use natural wool and plant fibres, recycled silks and stuffing in my work, as well as thrifted items, foraged driftwood, seaglass, recycled cardboard, natural objects, and a huge trove of vintage glass beads and jewellery”.
She will be based at the Birkenhead Central Library on the 10th of May from 10am until 4pm.
